From Earth Day to Arbor Day 2026
An interactive event to invite the community to appreciate WSU’s green campus and mark the anniversary of the Tree Initiative!
"Winona, We're All Connected" Spring Wonder Sargent's Cherry Tree
On April 30th, 2024, a Spring Wonder Sargent's Cherry blossom tree was planted on Winona State University's campus on the lawn between Phelps Hall and Maxwell Hall.
The tree, symbolizing the culturally diverse community of Winona growing and blossoming together, was part of PRSSA's "Winona, We're All Connected" campaign, which started from a cultural exhibition hosted by PRSSA and Mass Communications students.
This campaign, aligned with the university's theme of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, aims to enrich the sense of community by fostering connections among individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

More than just a symbol of natural beauty, the blossom tree represents WSU's steadfast commitment to diversity, inclusion, and unity.
It marks the first student-led initiative of its kind at WSU and is the culmination of fundraising efforts that garnered generous donations from WSU students, faculty, family members, and more.

With this long-lasting campaign, PRSSA will continue hosting events and activities surrounding the tree, as we witness its growth and carry on with the celebration of unity.

From Earth Day to Arbor Day 2026
In celebration of Earth Day and the one-year anniversary of the PRSSA-led Tree Initiative, the Winona State University chapter of PRSSA is proud to announce the “From Earth Day to Arbor Day 2026” event series.
We're re-inviting students to participate again as the turnout was so great last year!

PRSSA and the WSU Arboretum Committee will co-host a Tree Trek Challenge on Thursday, April 23rd, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
This scavenger hunt-style event invites participants to discover and learn about native trees across WSU’s campus using a printed map provided at the event.

However, this year has a little twist to it. At certain trees there will be a letter that you need to write down. Once you find all the letters, you have to unscramble them to find the word!
All are welcome to join the activities!
