Blossom Tree Planting Ceremony
With the strong support of the individual donors and the DEI office, PRSSA’s Tree initiation can move ahead. On April 30th, 2024, PRSSA held a special event to plant a Spring Wonder Sargent blossom tree outside of Phelps Hall.

This new, long-standing staple on campus serves to commemorate the spirit of diversity, equity, and inclusion across the WSU community for years to come. Just as the tree blossoms, so blossoms the unified community of WSU.

At the ceremony, together, students, staff, the DEI Office, and Winona community members worked hard to plant the tree in nutritious soil and support its endurance through a healthy dose of watering. These efforts all served to help this long-lasting symbol of community grow and thrive with us.

After the planting, WSU President Kenneth Janz and Dean of Liberal Arts Kara Lindaman spoke of the importance of symbols of unity like these on campus. Their words highlighted the significance of a harmonious community, with students working together to achieve greatness.

The presence of this blossom tree on campus serves as a reminder how - no matter one's background - all students are connected through Winona State University, where students blossom together.

PRSSA will continue this long-lasting, sustainable celebration of diversity and unity through the creation of future activities and events as we witness the tree grow and blossom alongside our community.
