PRSSA's Name-the-Tree Contest!

Celebrate Earth Day to Arbor Day by helping us give a name to the beautiful Cherry Blossom tree planted during last year’s Tree Planting Ceremony!

 

For the first time, the tree is blooming — and we’re inviting you to be part of its story.

From April 22 to April 29, submit your most creative, meaningful, or fun name ideas for our beloved tree. Join us in celebrating growth, creativity, and community spirit!

The winner of the Name-the-Tree Contest will win a $30 VISA gift card and the name will be announced on PRSSA's Instagram.

 

 

1. Submission Guidelines:

  • Submissions must be original, creative, and respectful.

  • Each participant may submit one name media.

  • The name can be inspired by the tree's symbolism, appearance, location, seasasonality, or the theme of the "Winona, We're All Connected" campaign. 
     

2. Eligibility:

  • Open to all members of the WSU campus and Winona community.

  • Participants must include their name and contact information in the submission form.

  • All submissions must be turned in by midnight on April 29, 2025.

3. Selection Criteria:

  • Relevance: How well the name reflects the tree's symbolism and the campaign's mission.

  • Creativity: Uniqueness and originality of the name.

  • Emotional/Community Connection: Whether the name evokes unity, growth, or connection.

  • Appropriateness: The name must be respectful and inclusive.

4. Selection Process:

  • The PRSSA committee, including the PRSSA President and selected faculty advisors, will vote based on eligible submissions based on the evaluation criteria. 

  • One final winner will be selected.

 

5. Announcement:

  • The winning name will be announced on May 1, 2025

  • The winner will be recognized and featured in PRSSA's social media and website content.
